Emerging Technology
A new emerging technology is the Flow. The Flow is a paintbrush with real bristles that can be used on touchscreens. Touchscreens included are an iPad, iPod, iPhone, and any Android phone or tablet. With the Flow you can paint a picture without the mess of actual paint. You do, however, have to have one of the devices that supports the Flow. If schools funded and bought the Flow, and devices that supported it, the way teachers taught painting would be changed.
Teachers would be able to demonstrate painting techniques without using supplies. Also in general the painting supplies cost would go down. The different colors of paint, and other supplies would not have to be bought. Instead students would draw their paintings on touchscreens. Of course, there are some situations where students still need to paint physical items to get the feel. However, I feel that in the future there is going to be curriculum created that focuses around using touchscreens for painting. Until that day, traditional painting will continue. Take a look at it! Assistive Technology
This is software program called TextAloud 3. With this program, instead of reading emails, web pages, etc. you can listen to them! TextAloud 3 reads everything aloud to you. You can also download your daily reading to your iPod. I personally think this is an awesome program. It is not only helpful for those that have a hard time reading pages on the computer, but can be helpful for everyone!
If my school provided the money to buy this program for the classrooms, I would definitely use it! For younger classes, instead of having my students read websites, I would have them listen to the content. Younger students don't know very big words yet, and with this program they can be introduced verbally and visually to bigger words. This program can also be used to help visually impaired students as well. There are so many ways to use this program! Take a look at it! TextAloud 3
